Some mornings call for slow comfort — the kind that warms your hands, smells like cinnamon, and reminds you that taking care of yourself doesn’t have to be complicated.

This oatmeal started as a quick idea one chilly morning — a few apples that needed using up, a little butter and cinnamon, and my favorite mug. It turned into one of those small rituals that makes busy mornings feel calmer. I’ve been learning to slow down before the day starts — especially while balancing work, gym time, and my daughter’s sports schedule. This simple breakfast helps me start from a place of nourishment instead of rush.

🥣 What You’ll Need

  • ½ cup oats

  • ½ cup milk (or dairy-free alternative)

  • 1 small apple, chopped

  • 1 tsp butter or coconut oil

  • Dash of cinnamon + pinch of brown sugar or drizzle of maple syrup

  • Optional: vanilla extract, chia seeds, or a spoon of nut butter for extra protein

👩‍🍳 How to Make It

  1. In a small pot, sauté the chopped apple in butter until slightly softened and fragrant.

  2. Add cinnamon and stir until coated.

  3. In a separate bowl or pot, cook oats with milk until creamy.

  4. Combine everything together, top with a little extra cinnamon and a drizzle of maple syrup.

✨ Why I Love It

It’s warm, grounding, and keeps me full through my morning workouts or errands. My daughter loves it too — especially when we make it together before school. It’s not just about food; it’s about slowing down long enough to actually taste the start of your day.
